Ivan

Our graduate student Iván Brave is the recipient of one of The Support for Artists and Creative Individuals (SACI) grants this year. This grant provides funds of up to $15,000 for specific projects that create and present new works of art or complete work already in progress throughout the city of Houston. SACI grants are funded by the City of Houston via the Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) and are awarded based on cash-in-hand.

Iván Brave lives in his hometown of Houston, Texas, where he is earning his doctorate in Spanish Creative Writing at the University of Houston. His work has been printed in Tilted House, Latino Book Review, and The Copperfield Review; and his novels The Summer Abroad and They Lived They Were are available worldwide. Recently he was awarded a grant from the Houston Arts Alliance to complete and showcase his third novel. Learn more at: www.ivanbrave.com.
