History Ph.D. Shine Trabucco wins prestigious national Latinidades research award

College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) doctoral student Shine Trabucco has been awarded the Crossing Latinidades Mellon Humanities Fellowship by the Crossing Latinidades Humanities Research Initiative, acquiring funding for tuition, medical insurance and fees for the 2022-23 academic year and paving the way for her heritage dissertation research.

University of Houston creative writing professor and award-winning author Cristina Rivera Garza is one of only 10 recipients of the Berlin Prize for spring 2023. College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Associate Professor of History Leandra Zarnow was one of 18 historians asked to provide historical insight and perspective in the first draft of an overview of Trump’s presidency presenting original assessments of the key issues that shaped his time in office.
