The Joshua Yellen, Ed.D. Endowed Scholarship
Dr. Joshua Yellen, Ed.D., was a Clinical Associate Professor and the founding director of the Athletic Training Program in Health and Human Performance at UH. Loved by students and colleagues alike, his dedication to teaching and service left an enduring mark on the department. The Joshua Yellen, Ed.D. Endowed Scholarship for Master of Athletic Training Students was established to honor his memory and carry forward his commitment to preparing the next generation of athletic trainers.
Eligibility
Applicants must be current second-year MAT students who have demonstrated leadership experience that has positively impacted the athletic training profession and/or their community.
Application Requirements
All applicants must submit the following materials:
- Current resume/CV
- Personal statement*
- Updated Professional Development Plan, as outlined in the MAT Program Handbook
- (required) Letter of recommendation from a UH MAT preceptor
- (recommended) Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a second letter of recommendation from a non-MAT faculty member who can speak to the applicant's clinical experience, leadership abilities, and potential as a future athletic training professional
*Applicants should use their personal statement to highlight their leadership experiences, describe the impact of those experiences on the athletic training profession and/or community, and explain how those experiences have contributed to their professional development and future goals. Emphasis should be focused on leadership experiences gained at the graduate level; however, applicants may also discuss significant leadership experiences from their undergraduate education if applicable.
