NSF Biosketch Update

The National Science Foundation has released new guidance for proposals and awards, which goes into effect June 1.

One important update is the information required in the biographical sketch. In Section B (appointments), each investigator must provide “a list, in reverse chronological order by start date of all the individual’s academic, professional, or institutional appointments, beginning with the current appointment.

Appointments include any titled academic, professional, or institutional position whether or not remuneration is received, and whether full- time, part-time, or voluntary (including adjunct, visiting, or honorary).”

This means any board positions, appointments at other institutions (including courtesy/adjunct), etc., need to be included in the biosketch.

While the emphasis is on disclosing foreign involvement, all appointments should be included in Section B.

If you have questions about this updated guidance, please contact Ben Mull in the Office of Contracts & Grants.
