In October of 2003, the full-time administrative staff of the Honors College participated in a retreat designed to elicit new ideas and fresh perspectives on the Honors College, what we do in Honors, and why we do it. From this series of meetings emerged the College's mission and vision.

The Honors College is a community that cultivates excellence in teaching and learning. We believe that a university education should offer more than the acquisition of skills for the workplace.

The Honors College at the University of Houston is a nationally recognized, intellectually stimulating learning community. As a vibrant, leading presence within the University, the Honors College attracts highly talented and motivated students and educators to a collegial environment where tradition is honored and possibilities are both created and realized.
