Zhu Haiyan presents her research in Tea CultureThe Asian American Studies Center’s visiting scholar, Professor Zhu Haiyan, was invited by Mrs. Olga Rojas, the president of the Houston Center for Literacy to present a lecture entitled “Chinese Traditional Tea Culture”.  Professor Zhu shared her research with more than 60 students and professors from Mexico, Angola, Japan, Columbia, Mongolia, Venezuela, Indonesia, China and the United States.

Ms. Zhu presented the “Harmonious” theme in Chinese tea culture through edutainment methods during the seminar.  Her highly impacted presentation won waves of warm applause from the audience.  At the same time, Dr. Zhu’s presentation provoked audience’s interests in Chinese traditional tea etiquettes.  Many students and professors asked questions such as “How do Chinese drink tea?”, “What are the different types of Chinese teas?” and “What is the cultural spirit of Chinese tea?”.  This seminar provided a great opportunity to carry out academic discussions and promote communications between Chinese and Western culture.
