Letters to the University Community (H1N1 Virus) Information for Faculty (H1N1 Virus) Information for Faculty
May 1, 2009
The University of Houston continues to closely monitor the Swine Flu situation, including
developments related to a "probable" case at the University of Houston-Downtown. Based
on what we know now, we will continue normal operations in an effort to get through
finals and graduation without undue disruption.
There is a possibility that health officials could force the closure of some or all
of our facilities if we have a confirmed case of the H1N1 virus. As a result, we respectfully
suggest that you think ahead about how you might continue with exams if the situation
worsens, including take-home or on-line exams. This is completely at your discretion--we simply encourage you to be prepared with options if the situation warrants.
We will watch the situation closely, and provide periodic updates. Please check the
Web site for news and preventive information: http://uh.edu/news-updates/updates/index.php.
Finally, let me remind you again to please make sure you have provided the university
with updated Emergency Contact Information--particularly your cell phone number. You
will find directions for doing this at: http://piersystem.com/go/doc/1093/155718/.
Warm regards,
Renu Khator
