Winter Storm Update

February 16, 2021

Dear Campus Community,

During this unprecedented winter storm, we hope you are staying safe and warm. The winter storm system is dangerously cold and has resulted in significant damage, including loss of water and power for many of us. We will continue to remain closed through Thursday, Feb. 18. Faculty are being asked to adjust deadlines for assignments and tests due to the impact of widespread power outages and Blackboard being temporarily unavailable.

Damage to some of our student housing is now being addressed, with affected residents being relocated here on campus.

AccessUH, Blackboard, MyUH, PeopleSoft and other UH critical information resources are being brought back online. UIT continues to work to restore some minor systems and sections of the campus remain without internet due to power outages.

The challenges are expected to continue in the days to come. We continue to monitor the weather and assess condition in the region. Your safety is our number one consideration. Please remain sensitive to issues of safety and visit uh.edu/emergency for the latest information on our campus operations. Please stay safe.

With warm regards,
Renu Khator
