Go Texan Day

February 22, 2018

Howdy, Cougars!

One of our city’s most cherished traditions, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, kicks off next week. The official beginning of this great event is the weekend Rodeo Parade through downtown, complete with trail riders, bands and floats.

To celebrate our heritage in true community fashion, the Friday before the parade is designated as Go Texan Day in the city. And that Friday is tomorrow!

I encourage all students, faculty and staff to wear your best cowboy and cowgirl duds. I hope to see many of you wearing your jeans and western skirts, big-buckle belts, western shirts and blouses, hats, bandanas and of course, those iconic Texas boots.

And since we also celebrate Red Fridays in Cougar Nation, I hope many of you will wear red, like I will.

Go Coogs!…  Go Rodeo!…  and Go Texan Day!

With warm regards,

Renu Khator
President
