Happy Holidays

December 10, 2009

Colleagues and Friends,

In a few weeks, I will complete two years as president of the University of Houston and chancellor of the UH System. It has been, and continues to be, an incredibly rewarding journey, thanks to those who have made this trip possible - You! During my Fall Address, I reflected on the many achievements that we have been able to accomplish together. As this gratifying year comes to an end, please allow me to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your support and friendship.

Students remain our top priority, and their success is our ultimate goal. You, as faculty and staff, create the environment in which they learn and become successful. Your research continues to break new ground and make this world a better place. Your dedicated service continues to strengthen the foundation of this institution and increase the effectiveness of its operation. Your leadership continues to move us forward. Please know that your work is valued, and your contribution is felt every day by thousands of students on this campus.

During this festive season, I wish you all holiday cheer and smiles in abundance. I hope you are able to relax and enjoy some richly deserved time off with family and friends. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
