The Asghar Memorial Undergraduate Summer Research Fellowship (AMUSRF) program funds 1-2 full-time University of Houston undergraduate students with little or no laboratory research experience to engage in a research educational experience for 10 weeks (early June to early August) during the summer in the laboratory of a UHCOP Department of Pharmacological and Pharmaceutical Sciences (PPS) faculty member.

The intent of this program is to encourage students to pursue a career as a basic research scientist. No course credit will be offered for participation in this program.

Benefits

Selected student(s) will be notified of the decision in the first week of May. The AMUSRF program provides a $1,000 scholarship to the selected student(s).

Application

Interested students should submit a resume with complete academic record, a personal statement not exceeding 500 words, and two letters of recommendation by Saturday, April 1, to Dr. Samina Salim.

The AMUSRF program was established in 2019 to honor the memory of Mohammad Asghar, Ph.D., a PPS faculty member who led a successful renal physiology laboratory and was highly supportive of undergraduate research.
