International Student and Scholar Services advance the goals of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services by providing for the special needs of international students and exchange visitors related to their status as non-immigrants of the United States. It fulfills the University of Houston's responsibility to comply with the laws and regulations of the U.S. government and promotes internationalization through comprehensive services and programs.

Optional Practical Training (OPT) is defined in the regulations as "temporary employment for practical training directly related to the student's major area of study."
This seminar will provide you with information regarding employment options and procedures for F-1 and J-1 visa holders. UH Career Counselors will join us in preparing you with better resume writing and interview skills. An immigration attorney will present information on a work visa and immigrant visa options.
This workshop will connect you with the resources of financial aid opportunities available to international students. You will also learn tips for success in applying for scholarships and information on accessing bank services.
All new international students are welcome to join together to learn more about American culture and reconnect with new friends and ISSSO team. Free pizza will be provided.
Based on the SEVP provided clarification to reflect the 2021–22 academic year, we will continue to follow the SEVP guidance for the fall 2021 semester.
