Scholarships
There are several scholarship opportunities available to teachHOUSTON students to support outstanding future teachers of STEM courses in the completion of their teaching certification requirements. Scholarships range from $500–$12,000.
NOTE: Applications for Fall 2024 awards are now open and are due on March 29, 2024 by 11:59 pm CST.

Scholarship Information
The following scholarship opportunities are available for undergraduate students in the teachHOUSTON program and have completed CUIN 2300.
The Elizabeth P. and Harold R. Williams Foundation University of Houston Scholarship
Scholarship Amount: $500–$5,000
The Elizabeth P. and Harold R. Williams Foundation University of Houston Scholarship Program seeks to support outstanding future teachers of STEM courses in the completion of their degrees. Students must demonstrate outstanding skills as STEM teacher candidates as well as a passion for making a difference in the world through teaching. Selection for the scholarships will be based on excellent academic and professional performance. Applicants will be considered on career goals, leadership experience, honors and awards, professional development, community service, volunteer work for teachHOUSTON and the written essay responses.
Scholarship amount: Varies
Requirements
- GPA = 2.5 or higher
- Must be a certified full-time undergraduate degree seeking student in good standing at the University of Houston or a post-baccalaureate student seeking secondary STEM teacher certification (student teaching is considered full time)
- Must be a STEM major
- Must have completed Classroom Interactions or be enrolled in the class during the semester the applicant is applying

- Essay on consideration for scholarship
- Essay discussing challenges facing math/science teachers
tH-ACCESS (also referred to as UH-ACCESS) Noyce Scholarship for Future STEM Teachers
Scholarship Amount: $6,000
The tH-ACCESS Robert Noyce Scholarship Program seeks to support outstanding future teachers of STEM courses in the completion of their degrees. Students must demonstrate outstanding skills as STEM teacher candidates and have an interest in advancing social justice in STEM teaching and learning.
Scholarship Amount: $6,000 per semester for up to four semesters
Requirements
- GPA = 2.75 or higher
- Must be a certified full-time undergraduate degree seeking student in good standing at the University of Houston
- Must be a STEM major
- Must be enrolled in the teachHOUSTON program
- Must have junior or senior status at the time of the award
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, or permanent resident alien
- Must agree to teach for two calendar years at a “high-need school district” as defined in section 201 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1021) for each year that the scholarship is received

teachHOUSTON Challenge Fund and Greater Texas Foundation Scholarships
Scholarship Amount: $500–$1,000
The teachHOUSTON Challenge Fund and Greater Texas Foundation Scholarships at University of Houston Scholarship Program seek to support outstanding future teachers of STEM courses in the completion of their degrees. Students must demonstrate outstanding skills as STEM teacher candidates as well as a passion for making a difference in the world through teaching. Selection for the scholarships will be based on excellent academic and professional performance. Applicants will be considered on career goals, leadership experience, honors and awards, professional development, community service, volunteer work for teachHOUSTON and the written essay responses.
