Year 2 (Summer 2023)
Summer Camp for Year 2 (May 15 – June 15)
31 students attended the summer camp in-person or virtually. We started with a mini-workshop on the first day. The program consisted of three speakers from UH who gave seminars on Energy Transition:
- Chuck McConnell - Energy Center Officer, Center for Carbon Management in Energy, University of Houston
- Joseph Powell - Executive Director, Energy Transition Institute, University of Houston
- Ramanan Krishnamoorti - Chief Energy Officer and Vice President, Energy and Innovation, University of Houston
Cohort 1 gave poster presentations on their research projects:
- Team 1: Rate of Penetration Prediction Using Machine Learning Models (Winner)
- Team 2: Predicting Magma Fertility for Porphyry Copper Exploration Using Machine Learning (Runner-up)
- Team 3: The Future is Bright with Solar Forecast (Runner-up)
- Team 4: Exploring the Relationship Between Saltwater Disposal Wells and Earthquake Magnitudes in Oklahoma, 2019 (Poster 1 | Poster 2)
- Team 5: Project Crystal Ball Earth: Earthquake Travel-Time Prediction
