Jessica Ferrarone
Head of Summer M.A. for Theatre Educators, Professor, Acting
Jessica Ferrarone is the Program Head for the Summer M.A. for Theatre Educators and an Assistant Instructional Professor of Acting. Ms. Ferrarone earned her BFA in Acting from North Carolina School of the Arts and continued her studies at the Stella Adler Conservatory in NYC. Some of her favorite stage experiences include Trojan Women under the direction of Gerald Freedman, Summer and Smoke at the Roundabout Theatre, and the premiere of Lyle Kessler’s Robbers at American Place Theatre, directed by Marshall Mason. She also worked in film and television including recurring roles on NYPD Blue and General Hospital. Guest star appearances include CSI Miami and Boston Public, among others.
A passionate advocate for theatre in elementary and secondary education, Ms. Ferrarone parlayed her training and experience into the classroom for a decade working with students in 6th through 12th grade. During that time, her students made two State appearances in the University Interscholastic League’s One Act Play Contest. She earned her M.A. from the University of Houston’s Summer M.A. Program for Theatre Educators and her M.F.A. from the University of Idaho in Theatre Pedagogy. She is proud to be in a position to support the advancement of theatre educators and the incredible work they do.
Ms. Ferrarone studied Sanford Meisner’s Technique under Master teacher Nicholas Martin. Other formidable training includes modern realism with K. Todd Freeman and Caroline Neff at Steppenwolf Theatre, Shakespeare with The Public Theatre’s Jed Diamond and Tarell McCraney, devising with Third Rail Projects, and puppetry with Tom Lee.
