“Lord, what fools these mortals be!”

Fall under the spell of Shakespeare's magical tale of midsummer madness. It
is a wild night for lovers as an adventure in an enchanted forest leads to
mischievous fairies playing tricks and a troupe of bumbling actors. Love,
magic and mischief fill the forest as fantastical dreams blur with reality.

“Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say ‘Good night” till it be morrow.”

The greatest love story ever told, Shakespeare's powerful masterwork of
exhilarating love and loss will capture your imagination and leave you
breathless. Two star-crossed lovers are swept up by the hatred of their
warring families, and they dare to believe their love is strong enough to
overcome the violence around them.

 PARKING:  
Free parking near Miller Outdoor Theatre is available in Lots C, D and E. Parking Lot C is newly refurbished and located off Hermann Drive with entrances at Crawford and Jackson Streets. Lot C the largest of the three lots, and has pedestrian walkways connecting to Miller Outdoor Theatre.

    Join us for an engaging afternoon at Houston Public Library with our book club as we delve into Isaac Marion's captivating novel, "Warm Bodies." Get Ready to explore themes of love, humanity, and survival in a post-apocalyptic world.  Warm Bodies is described as a “zombie romance that makes allusions to Romeo and Juliet."
     
    After the discussion, stick around as we screen the film adaptation of "Warm Bodies" for a cinematic experience like no other. HSF alumni Allison Pistorius, known as Beatrice in the 2023 HSF's production of "MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING will join us to share insights and perspectives.

    Wherefore art Shakespeare in the Garden?
     
    Embark on an enchanted evening stroll of the Houston Botanic Garden on the trail of floral sights and smells plucked from the works of Shakespeare. In partnership with the Houston Botanic Garden, one of the highlights of the event will be an audio tour that connects Shakespeare's language with information about the Garden. Embrace your inner fairy – costumes encouraged — as you go plant spotting, engage in some good-natured Shakespearean put-downs, and more.

    Conversations on Costumes: A Midsummer Night’s Dream @ Houston Public Library

    A costume can transport actors and audiences alike into an entirely different world.  Meet Jodie Daniels and Paige Willson, who have designed magical costumes for three different productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Houston Shakespeare Festival. 
     
    Some costume designs will also be displayed for guests to view up close.

    Celebrate the power of Shakespeare’s words with a Family Fun Day at the Reinzi, the MFAH house museum for European decorative arts.  Explore kids quill crafts, a Shakespeare workshop for kids, and see a rare copy of William Shakespeare’s complete works, called the 2nd Folio, and Share a bit of Shakespeare with your family.

    Crafting crowns @ 7:15pm & Fairy parade @ 7:45 pm


    It's midsummer fun for the whole family!  During Kids Night, have bring your child to color their crown and imagine themselves as Oberon or Titania.  There will be a fairy parade around the theatre from 7:45 – 8:05 pm.  Don’t forget to bring your favorite fairy wings!

    Discover the fun of Shakespeare out at the park!  On closing night, your child can make their very own mask for the Capulet masquerade ball.  Music from the show will be playing, and you can dance your way to the theatre.
