Startup Stage: Funding
After Pitch Day, the next step is turning interest into support. This stage is all about securing the resources to grow. UH Innovation helps founders connect with the right funding opportunities, whether through grants, early-stage investment, or strategic partnerships.
Many teams move directly from pitching into real conversations with funders, advisors, and the UH Office of Technology Transfer and Innovation. The goal is not just to raise capital, but to build meaningful relationships that move ventures forward.
SBIR & STTR Grant Support
Two key funding sources for early-stage innovators are the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. These federal grants provide non-dilutive funding to support R&D with strong commercial potential, especially valuable for university-led ventures.
