Career Highlights:

Peter Koelling received his Ph.D. from Northern Illinois University and his J.D. from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. Currently, he is the Hobby School director of graduate initiatives and is developing the teaching cities program for the Hobby School. He is the editor and contributing author of “The Improvement of the Administration of Justice, 8th Ed.,” and has taught at Colorado State University and the University of Denver. Before joining the University of Houston in 2021 as the Master of Public Administration program director, Koelling was with the Special Tribunal for Lebanon in The Hague, where he was the chief of Court Management.

Previously, Koelling was the director and chief counsel for the judicial division of the American Bar Association for eight years and is currently active in the ABA as a member and officer. He has been a licensed attorney for 40 years and has worked as a court administrator in various courts in Texas, Washington and Colorado. The former Peace Corp volunteer was recently named a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and has been honored by the State Bar of Texas as the pro bono attorney of the year.
