The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program provides opportunities for U.S. faculty, researchers, administrators, and professionals to teach, conduct research, or carry out professional projects abroad. Awards are available in more than 120 countries and range from a few months to a full academic year. Through these experiences, participants build international collaborations, advance scholarship, share expertise, and strengthen global engagement in their disciplines.

The Fulbright Specialist Program connects experienced U.S. faculty and professionals with institutions abroad for short-term, project-based exchanges. Specialists typically spend 2 to 6 weeks working on initiatives such as curriculum development, faculty training, strategic planning, research collaboration, and institutional capacity building. The program is designed to foster impactful international partnerships while accommodating professionals who may not be able to commit to a longer Fulbright experience.

The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program provides an opportunity for you or your department to host a Fulbright Visiting Scholar or Professional at the University of Houston. Visiting Scholars work with faculty hosts and departments across the United States, contributing international perspectives that enrich teaching, research, and campus global engagement. Exchanges generally range from three to twelve months. Visiting Scholars are hosted and coordinated by individual UH departments, with support of ISSSO and IGE.
