LaTasha R. Stoker

Senior Human Resources Business Partner

LaTasha Stoker, who joined the University of Houston in 2021, has a wide range of human resources experience spanning more than 20 years, where she has specialized in recruitment, talent development, performance management, compensation planning, and employee engagement. Stoker also has extensive knowledge in employee relations that includes mediation, problem solving, coaching, investigating, unemployment and interpreted labor law.

Stoker is passionate about establishing and maintaining relationships with both internal and external customers and stakeholders, and she finds pride in her ability to effectively interact with people at all levels in both field and corporate environments.

Since joining DSAES, Stoker has served as evaluator for the DSAES Awards program and has joined the DSAES Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Education and Training Sub Committee.

Stoker, who earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston – Downtown, brings to her role a variety of for-profit industry experience. Her career has included manufacturing, oil and gas, insurance and finance, and the car rental industry. Stoker's varied industry experience has provided an opportunity work with diverse individuals and groups, and she has committed herself to providing exceptional service, with an ethic of care, that supports employees and managers alike.

As a strategic partner to senior management within DSAES, Stoker is responsible for collaborating on organizational change as well as consulting on learning and development initiatives. As a tactical leader, Stoker has a demonstrated track record of outlining and aligning HR policies, techniques, processes, and standards to help construct synthesized and committed workforces.

Stoker partners and consults with executive leadership and senior leadership to provide operational business support and provide people related solutions. Stoker is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management and serves as a consultant to management on human resources related issues. Stoker functions as an employee champion at all levels. She assesses and anticipates HR-related needs and acts as a change agent, communicating needs proactively with the UH HR department and business management.
