Cullen Performance Hall in the heart of the UH Campus is a premier venue for a wide variety of events, ranging from theatrical and music performances, private corporate events, lectures, awards ceramonies and so much more!

  • Accessible Parking

    Limited accessible parking is available in front of Cullen Performance Hall on a first-come, first-served basis.

    If the accessible parking spaces are full, individuals with disabilities may be dropped off at the front of the building. However, vehicles will need to park in designated event parking areas. Please note that vehicles left in the drop-off area for prolonged periods of time may be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.

  • Accessible Seating

    Cullen Performance Hall is committed to providing accessible seating for all patrons who require ADA accommodations.

    To purchase accessible seating, customers may contact our box office. where we are happy to assist with phone or in-person transactions. Accessible seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis and may be sold after all other general seating has been sold. These seats will be available at the lowest ticket price offered.

    Additionally, ADA accommodations can also be arranged for PIT seating at the regular ticket price.

  • Alcohol Policy

    Cullen Performance Hall promotes responsible consumption of alcoholic beverages. Alcohol will be sold at select events. Our alcohol policies are listed below:

    • All guests purchasing alcohol must present a valid state issued Photo ID.
    • No alcohol will be sold to guests who appear to be intoxicated.
    • There is a two (2) beverage limit, per person, per transaction at all concession stands.
    • Alcohol sales will terminate at a set time, usually with 1-hour to 45-minutes remaining in an event.
    • Management reserves the right to cut off alcohol sales at its discretion.
    • Management reserves the right to refuse alcohol sales to anyone.
    • Guests passing alcohol to minors will be ejected and subject to arrest.
    • Guests possessing alcohol, who do not have proof of being at least 21 years of age, may be ejected and subject to penalties enforced by law enforcement officers.
    • Guests may not bring alcoholic beverages into the facility. Any attempt to bring alcohol into the facility may result in guests being ejected, arrested, or tickets being revoked.
    • All guests must finish or dispose of alcoholic beverages before exiting the facility.
    Guests who appear to be inebriated will not be permitted admittance into the facility.
  • Campus Carry Policy

    Campus carry law that was signed by Governor Abbott on June 13, 2015 allows persons with a state mandated concealed handgun license (CHL) to carry a concealed handgun in certain areas on campus so long as the area has not been designated by the University as an exclusion zone.

  • Code of Conduct

    Cullen Performance Hall is committed to creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for all guests. Our staff will proactively support an environment free from the following behaviors:

    • Abusive, foul, or disruptive language and obscene gestures.
    • Intoxication or other signs of impairment related to alcoholic consumption.
    • The use or sale of illegal drugs.
    • Smoking, including e-cigarettes, vapes, and the use of chewing tobacco.
    • Throwing, fighting, taunting, or threatening remarks or gestures.
    • Sitting in a location other than the guest’s ticketed seat.
    • Displays of affection not appropriate in a public setting.
    • Obscene or indecent clothing.
    • Prolonged standing in accessible seating areas, aisles, the front of the stage, or in sections.
    • Any disruptions to the progress of the event.
    • Ticket scalping.
    • Trespassing, soliciting, peddling, and/or loitering.
    • Any other actions deemed dangerous or inappropriate.

    Continuing inappropriate behavior may result in the guest having his/her tickets revoked, being ejected from the facility, or being arrested by police. All ticket holders are responsible for their conduct as well as persons using their tickets. Violators of the rules of any state or city laws will be refused admission, asked to leave or be ejected from the facility property. Guests are encouraged to report issues and concerns of conduct to a nearby event staff member.

  • Concessions/Outside food and beverages

    Cullen Performance Hall sells concessions at many but not all events. All concession stands accept every major credit and debit card. Outside food and beverage is not permitted in the Cullen Performance Hall. Please contact Cullen Performance Hall at 832-842-3131 to obtain information for a specific event.

  • Conditions of Entry

    1. Cullen Performance Hall reserves the right to conduct an inspection on any Bags, Clothing, or Other Items at the entry points at any time.
    2. Searching for restricted items is a condition of entry to protect your safety and other patrons attending an event at Cullen Performance Hall
    3. Use of Walk-Through and Handheld Metal Detectors will be administered after completion of the initial bag check. (All items must be removed from your personal pockets and placed in a white tray provided and items will be passed down to the other side of the metal detector)
    4. Failure to comply with Bag Checks and Metal Detector Checks will result in denial of entry into Cullen Performance Hall.
    5. There will be no admission into the venue before the designated opening time.
    6. You must produce a valid ticket to gain entry.

  • Emergencies

    Should you need immediate emergency assistance, please notify the nearest event staff, security personnel, Cullen Performance Hall staff, or police officer. Guests are encouraged to report safety issues and concerns to a nearby staff member or by calling UHPD at 713-743-3333. In case of a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 immediately.

    In the event of a serious emergency at the Cullen Performance Hall, all event staff, event security, University police, and other public safety response agencies are ready and available to assist guests, including guests with disabilities. Pertinent information regarding the emergency situation and evacuation procedures will be provided over the public address system. Guests are required to follow all emergency instructions, including guidance on evacuation procedures or taking shelter as necessary.

  • Listen and Closed Caption

    Cullen Performance Hall offers the "Listen Everywhere" service through the ListenWiFi app, allowing guests to stream audio directly to their smartphones and access closed captioning during events.

    To access the audio streaming, you will need to complete the following steps on your mobile device:

  • Lost and Found

    For inquiries about lost items after an event, please contact us.

    Items lost during events are stored in a locked area for 48 hours, after which they are either disposed of or donated to a charitable organization. If the item is in accordance with the UHPD lost and found policy, it will be transferred to the University of Houston Police Department (UHPD).

    Please note that Cullen Performance Hall is not responsible for any lost or damaged items.

    If you are looking for a lost individual, please check with the nearest event staff member.

    For safety and privacy reasons, Cullen Performance Hall is unable to make facility-wide announcements regarding lost children or guests.

  • Prohibited Items

    For safety reasons, guests will be refused entry if they are in possession of prohibited items.

    Illegal items will be confiscated and turned over to law enforcement. If a guest is found inside the arena with prohibited items, those items will be confiscated, and the guest may be ejected from the facility.

    Ticketed guests will receive an email prior to the event with information on any guidelines or restrictions

    The following items are not permitted inside Cullen Performance Hall:

    • Aerosol cans
    • Animals/pets (except for service animals)
    • Audio/video equipment
    • Balloons and beach balls
    • Cans, bottles, glass, or other beverage containers
    • Chains, studded bracelets, etc.
    • Coolers or ice chests
    • Electric Scooters (except those needed for mobility assistance)
    • Illegal drugs
    • Large bags or purses (see Clear Bag Policy)
    • Laser pens and pointers
    • Noisemaking devices (i.e. whistles, air horns)
    • Outside food or beverage
    • Professional photography equipment
    • Selfie sticks or GoPros
    • Banners, flags, signage, etc.
    • Skateboards, rollerblades, or similar devices
    • Smoking devices (i.e. Cigarettes, E-Cigarettes, Vapes, etc.) 
    • Unapproved pamphlets, handouts, advertisements, etc.
    • Weapons (i.e. knives, pepper spray, tear gas, handcuffs, stun guns, etc.)
    • Any other item deemed to be inappropriate or dangerous by Cullen Performance Hall management.
    *This list is subject to change at the discretion of Cullen Performance Hall management and the event promoter.

    Ticketed guests will receive an email prior to the event with updated guidelines and restrictions.

  • Refunds & Credits

    There are no refunds or exchanges provided for purchases. It is your responsibility to carefully review all aspects of the event, event restrictions, dates, pricing, charges, and seat selection. We will not issue any refunds or exchanges because you failed to review this information. Refunds will not be issued for any lost, stolen, destroyed, or damaged tickets.

    In the event of a cancellation, refunds are only made to the original purchaser and issued for the face value of the ticket(s) only. Per ticket fees are non-refundable. In the event of a cancellation, every effort will be made to notify the original purchaser.

  • Smoking / Tobacco

    Smoking and the use of chewing tobacco is not permitted inside or outside Cullen Performance Hall. The University is a tobacco-free campus.

  • Strollers

    Strollers and large personal bags, including those used for child care, are not permitted inside Cullen Performance Hall.

    For safety reasons, all personal items must be left outside the venue. Personal bags, including those used for child care, must be clear and are subject to search upon entry. Searches for restricted items are a condition of entry to ensure the safety of all patrons. Failure to comply with bag checks screenings will result in denial of entry.

    *This policy is subject to change at the discretion of Cullen Performance Hall management and the event promoter. Ticketed guests will receive an email prior to the event with any updated guidelines or restrictions.


     

  • Taxi Drop Off

    At most events, Cullen Performance Hall provides a drop-off area for all guests, including those arriving by taxi.

    Guests should arrive at the gate in front of the building and inform the gate operator that they are dropping off. Once access is granted, proceed to the front of the facility to drop off the guest. After the drop-off, you may continue to the exit, where the gate will open for you to leave. Alternatively, you may park at the Welcome Center garage.

  • Tickets from Unauthorized Retailers

    If you purchase tickets from an unauthorized source, you do so at your own risk.

    Tickets obtained through unauthorized channels may be invalid, lost, stolen, or counterfeit, and in such cases, will be considered void.

    Cullen Performance Hall values the privacy and security of our customers and will not access records or reprint tickets for individuals who cannot be verified as the original ticket buyer. Fraudulent tickets will not be admitted into the theater. Please note that tickets cannot be reprinted.
