Message from Department Chair

Margaret Lehman Blake, Ph.D., CCC-SLP

Dear Spring and Summer 2020 Communication Sciences and Disorders Graduates,

Congratulations to Undergraduates in ComD who have successfully completed a wide range of classes about human communication – speech, language, and hearing – and the science behind how it all works. Congratulations to Undergraduates in American Sign Language Interpreting who will be able to facilitate communication between people who speak different languages. Congratulations to Graduate students in ComD who have successfully learned how to prevent, assess, and diagnose a wide variety of communication disorders and who have, collectively, provided over 12,750 hours of speech & language services to clients, patients, and students in the greater Houston area. And, some of these services have been provided remotely, so that even in the midst of a global pandemic people with communication disorders are able to have a voice.

We are proud of all of your accomplishments and wish you best as you leave UH with the power to improve human communication through which you will change lives.
