Dr. Alastuey is the "2009 Health Educator of the Year in the State of Texas"

HHP faculty Dr. Lisa Alastuey has been awarded the 2009 University Health Educator of the Year in the State of Texas, by The Texas Association for Health, Physical Education Recreation, and Dance (TAHPERD).

Dr. Alastuey received her award at The Annual Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance Convention in Arlington on December 4th 2009.

For several years now TAHPERD has recognized outstanding teaching and professional involvement by selecting and honoring teachers and/or professionals of the year. Those receiving such recognition are advanced for similar honors awarded by Southern District AHPERD (13 southern states). Those eligible are forwarded to AAHPERD for consideration for National Awards.

Dr. Lisa Alastuey

TAHPERD is a not-for-profit professional association of individuals in the allied fields of health education, physical education, recreation, and dance.This Texas-based association is composed of over 4,500 professional and students members serving education from kindergarten through college. TAHPERD was founded in 1923 and is the only association in Texas serving education in all four of our disciplines—health, physical education, recreation, and dance.
