Scholarships
Each semester, the Language and Culture Center offers one of the four scholarships: the Joyce Valdes Scholarship, the Joseph Davidson Scholarship, the Brad Powell Scholarship, and the Joy Tesh Scholarship. The scholarships acknowledge distinguished achievement and honor LCC leaders.
Eligibility
Current LCC students in Levels 1 through 5 who plan to enroll for the immediately following semester may apply for the scholarships. The following students are not eligible:
- Level 6 students
- past recipients
- students who have a scholarship or sponsorship from another source during the semester of application
- students who owe money to the LCC or UH
Steps to Apply
The scholarship application opens on the Monday of LCC Week 8 and closes on the Friday of Week 9. All applications must be submitted in the LCC Student System.
Selection Criteria
The scholarships are awarded to students who show the following characteristics:
- academic excellence
- good class attendance
- participation in class and program activities
- leadership ability
- intercultural understanding
- positive interaction with classmates and teachers
Notes
- LCC scholarships are based on merit and not based on a student’s financial need.
- All applicants will be considered for the scholarships.
- Applicants must be present at the LCC Graduation Ceremony to receive the scholarships.
