Postdoctoral Research Scientist Earns AHA Fellowship to Uncover New Mechanism in Rare Heart Disease

Luqi Zhao, M.D., University of Houston College of Pharmacy postdoctoral research scientist in the Department of Pharmacological & Pharmaceutical Sciences (PPS), is working to uncover a new mechanism in left ventricular non-compaction. She has received a two-year, $163,864 postdoctoral fellowship from the American Heart Association to investigate the “Pathogenesis of acquired left ventricular non-compaction,” a rare and severe cardiomyopathy.

February is Canned Food Month

Emergencies can occur with little warning and one of the easiest and most effective ways to be prepared is to maintain a small supply of non-perishable food. February is Canned Food Month, and the Office of Emergency Management encourages students, faculty, and staff to keep canned goods in their preparedness kit.
