Checking out Equipment from the Center for Public History

The Center for Public History has a number of cameras, recorders, laptops, and other equipment pieces available for student, staff, and faculty use. This equipment is provided in order to aid in your public history pursuits, including but not limited to oral histories.

However, in order to borrow these materials, the University requires that we have on file your authorization to remove these items from campus.

In order to grant you this authorization, we will need you to complete the following steps:

  1. Fill out this online form.
    1. You will be asked your name, address, peoplesoft ID, and email address.
    2. You will also need to provide what it is you intend on borrowing, when you will need it, and when you will be returning this/these item(s).
  2. Wait to receive an email from Dr. Wes Jackson, who will provide you with a docusign pdf to sign.
  3. Sign and return the pdf to Dr. Jackson.
  4. Make your way to the Center for Public History on a preferred check out day.
    1. We are located in Science and Research 2, Room 521. Our street address is 3455 Cullen Blvd.
    2. The Center is not open on the weekends. While generally the Center is open from Monday to Friday, it is best to email Dr. Jackson to coordinate a time when either himself or another staff/faculty member will be available to assist you.
  5. Receive the equipment and a physical copy of your previously docusigned form.
  6. Use the equipment. Be careful with it while you do so.
  7. When you are finished, make sure to download any and all files you need from the camera/recorder/laptop/etc onto your own device before you return the equipment.
    1. Preferably, after you save these files, delete them from the equipment.
  8. Return the equipment and your form to the Center for Public History, undamaged.
