Professor Rivas-Rodriguez is a former journalist and Director of the Voces Oral History Center, documenting experiences within the Latino community. Pamplin is a Mellon Engaged Scholar Initiative alumna from the University of Texas at Austin , where her research focused on low income, black community members in Houston and their interactions with the healthcare system.
