- Monday through Thursday: 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
- Friday: 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Teachers participate in curriculum and professional development Friday afternoon.
- Before and after-school care is provided for a fee Monday through Friday.
The University of Houston Charter School will permanently close at the end of the 2020-21 academic school year. The closure is due to significant budgetary challenges resulting from the continuing effects of COVID-19. Rather than compromise on the quality of education provided at the UHCS, the difficult decision was made to cease operations. UHCS thanks its students, families, alumni and the community for their support throughout the years.
The University of Houston Charter School empowers students to fulfill their potential through a student-centered curriculum that enhances their intellectual development, technological fluency and leadership abilities. The school follows a constructivist educational approach, giving students opportunities to learn through discovery, hands-on activities and reflection. Located on the UH campus, the school is an open-enrollment public charter school that serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
