A&F team connects at NACAS South CX conference

nacas.jpgOffice of Administration leaders attended the 2025 NACAS South CX conference at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, from March 30 to April 2. Representing the University were Deborah Huebler, Esmeralda Valdez, and Matt Oltremari.

“It was an incredible experience!” said Oltremari. “The educational sessions were truly enlightening.”

The team connected with colleagues from other institutions, sharing ideas and experiences that provided fresh perspectives and innovative approaches for Auxiliary Services.

“Overall, this year's NACAS South CX conference was a fantastic platform for learning, networking, and growing as a team,” said Oltremari.

UH Members Receive Awards and Positions

Valdez received the NACAS South Lifetime Achievement Award for her excellence in auxiliary services and her role as a regional representative on the board of directors.

“Winning the NACAS South Lifetime Achievement Award is truly an honor for me,” said Valdez. “It’s a reflection of our collective efforts to excel and innovate in auxiliary services.”

DaNesha Allen, Senior Director of Auxiliary Services, received the Regional Rising Star Award for her contributions to improving the campus experience for students.

“I am honored to be recognized as the NACAS Regional Rising Star,” Allen said.

Huebler was elected as the Membership and Awards Coordinator for the NACAS South board, aiming to increase membership and engagement opportunities.

“With Esmeralda Valdez stepping off the board in the fall, I am thrilled to continue representing the University of Houston,” Huebler said.

Huebler and Valdez gave presentations at the event. Huebler, joined by Bill Cox and Kelly Cox from Texas A&M, discussed:

  • Using student well-being data to address student needs.
  • Collaborating with other departments for first-generation student initiatives.
  • Creating spaces within auxiliary services to enhance students’ sense of belonging.

Valdez, in collaboration with LaNiece Tyree from Howard University and Kristy Vienne from Lone Star College System, instructed peers on developing and using effective leadership voices.
