Tabling event spells love: C-O-U-G-A-R C-A-R-D

cc-valentines.jpgLove connections were made at the Student Center South on Valentine’s Day, where students and faculty/staff were reintroduced to something they hold near and dear: their Cougar Card.

The “Fall in Love with Your Cougar Card” tabling event provided the perfect opportunity for card owners to explore the card’s benefits and, for some, rekindle their appreciation for their cards.

“We wanted to make sure new cardholders were able to take in all the campus experiences the card touches,” said Daisy Del Fierro, Cougar Card coordinator. “And for those who may have had a card for a while, we wanted to remind them of what their card offers.”

Members of the Cougar Card Services team passed out flyers with quick tips and information. One side of the flyer highlighted “10 Things to Love About Your Cougar Card,” while on the other side: “How to Care for Your Cougar Card.”

"We enjoy getting to hear from students one-on-one. It allows us to build connections with the UH community, which is important to us at Cougar Card Services!" said Danielle Ruiz, customer service specialist.

“It means I’m a student at one of the best universities ever,” said Hiba Khan, junior, a GHL Hilton college major, when asked what her Cougar Card meant to her. “I also get to take tests with it at the testing center.”

“It’s a way to get food,” said Synia Carter, freshman, an education major.

“It’s how I get into the dorm, all the different rooms, and places like the dining hall,” said Ella Strawbridge, freshman, a psychology major.

Many of the students who talked with the Cougar Card Services team knew what they used their card for but did not know of the Cougar Card’s other benefits or how to care for it. Thus, the Cougar Card Services team succeeded in its goal of more awareness.

The 45 students who visited the table during the 90-minute event were also entered for a chance to win four gift cards for the UH Campus Store by using their physical or digital Cougar Card to check in. Free candy was also available at the table — in keeping with the holiday — for those who desired a little late afternoon delight.
