Emergency Operations Center
The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has been activating the Emergency Operations
Center since its inception in 2011. For over 10 years, the staff of the Office of
Emergency Management have worked hard to incorporate all the necessary tools to ensure
that the management of an emergency is run as smoothly as possible. From humble beginnings,
the Office of Emergency Management worked emergencies like Hurricane Harvey and the
East Garage Fire. The Emergency Operations Center has seen many emergencies and disasters
that impacted the university community. What started as a small conference room with
two laptops grew over the years to a dedicated space at the Houston Public Media Building,
which serves as the current home of the Emergency Operations Center. To meet the growing
demand of the campus and surrounding community, a new state-of-the-art video wall
was recently installed to improve response to disasters. This effort was managed by
the Office of Emergency Management and Information Technology.
University of Houston faculty, staff, and students recently had the opportunity to explore a wide range of event-based resources and services available across campus during the Campus Resource Fair.
