Spring Break 2.0

March 2018

Did You Know?

Alternative Spring/Service Break is a way for students to serve their communities locally or internationally through service learning projects. Instead of going to party at the beach or slopes, some students decide to immerse themselves in a week of addressing issues like affordable housing, public health, environmental protection and/or rebuilding communities.

Use these tips to ensure Spring Break 2018 is your best one yet!

  • Limit Alcohol- If you are of age, drink no more than one drink per hour and alternate between alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Keep your drink your hand and do not accept drinks from anyone you don't know. Do not get behind the wheel if you have been drinking!
  • Protect your eyes and skin- Make sure to reapply sunscreen SPF 15 or above after swimming, sweating, or any activity in the snow. Consider purchasing special purpose sunglasses that block out harmful UV rays. If not, wear general sunglasses or a hat at all times.
  • Plan a successful trip- If you are taking a road trip, make sure to get your car checked before making the drive. Trade off driving with other passengers when feeling sleepy, don't drink and drive, and always keep your door locked. If traveling overseas, make sure you are up to date on your vaccinations and consider getting travel insurance.
