President’s Fall Address 2016

October 6, 2016

Dear Campus Community -

On Wednesday, I had the distinct privilege of delivering my eighth Fall Address at the Moores Opera House. While each address has been different, reflecting the wide range of opportunities and achievements the University has enjoyed over the years, there has been a common theme – the progress we are making on our journey toward excellence.

I want to thank everyone who attended. I appreciate the genuine enthusiasm you brought to our annual celebration of accomplishments and plans for the future. If you were unable to join us in person, I invite you to read the text of the Fall Address or view the video, which are now both available online. In addition to acknowledging our various successes during the past year, I was also excited to announce four major initiatives we’ll be pursuing in the coming year.

As I said in the address, “If one word could characterize this past year, it would be boldness … boldness of our expectations, but more importantly, boldness of our actions. In fact, we have raised the bar on our expectations to the point that we are now in the habit of ‘expecting the unexpected’.”

As we undertake these bold objectives going forward, I’m confident your dedication and talent will continue leading the way to success. And I remain grateful to be a part of that effort.

With warm regards,
Renu Khator
President
