Building Our Future - The First 100 Days

January 22, 2008

I am so honored to serve as your new Chancellor and President, and my first week on campus has proven to be both busy and enlightening. One thing remains abundantly clear — the University of Houston is poised for greatness.

Noted educator and statesman John W. Gardner once said, “History never looks like history when you’re living through it.” And that is exactly what is taking place at the University of Houston—we are in the process of making history. I have watched the University of Houston grow and develop a stellar reputation as an outstanding, highly respected metropolitan university. And today, now a Cougar myself, I marvel at the exciting opportunity that we have to empower young lives, develop meaningful relationships, and ultimately build the future of our beloved university.

During my first 100 days in office, I'm seeking innovative ideas that will help us strengthen the reputation of the University of Houston as a nationally premier research institution and continue to excel with student success as our fundamental mission.

After 100 days, I plan to convene the Board of Regents and my leadership team to outline our vision for the future, as well as our strategies, plans, and priorities. I am counting on you to be a part of our future.

Sincerely,
Renu Khator
