Conversation about the renovations for the Technology and Technology Annex buildings began early in the Fall semester of 2017.The Dean and supporting staff initiated an effort to create a clean, welcoming atmosphere for their college via a proposed renovation to the common areas of their facilities. Facilities Minor In-House Construction (MIC) team was engaged and quickly mobilized so the project could be completed before the Spring semester started.

In the effort of creating a welcoming atmosphere, the scope of the project included repainting the common area corridors, refinishing the exterior handrails, adding bike racks, reconstructing exterior benches, and installing post-it strips. The former color scheme comprised of dark colored wallpapers but the new brighter colors chosen from the approved Paint Palette made the corridors more welcoming. MIC also painted the corridor doors and frames which added to the pleasing aesthetic. As part of the upgrades, the existing room number signage was removed to install new ADA compliant signage. The post-it strips that were installed have helped alleviate random fliers from being posted in undesired locations.

The custodial crew did an excellent job in supporting the project by following up daily to clean up any debris left in work area.  They maintained a safe and clean environment throughout the project.

MIC enjoys working with the College of Technology and is thankful for the opportunity to renovate their facility.  It has been a successful project that has received positive feedback from the campus community. MIC looks forward to further assisting the campus in renovating their facilities.
