Facilities Receives Administration and Finance Annual Awards

A synopsis on the Facilities awardees at the Administration and Finance annual holiday party.

It was an exciting moment in December when the UH Facilities Minor In-House Construction team was awarded the Rock Soup Award and Jennifer Rea was announced as the Sustainability Champion during the Administration & Finance Division Awards.

The A&F Rock Soup award recognizes the Minor In-House Construction (MIC) crew for their performance as an extraordinary team by their  outstanding contributions to the Facilities department. They continuously enhance efficiency and reduce costs while expending minimal resources. They produce cost savings to Facilities customers by not using outside contractors. The MIC team performs a wide range of projects including full scale renovations for offices, labs and classrooms. The members of this magnificent MIC team are led by Steve Wright and include Phillip Beadles, Zachary Faulkner, Miguel Fernandez, Bernard McDowell, Adam Rodriguez, Carlos Rodriguez, Santos Rodriguez, Martin Valles, Mauricio Vazquez, Pete Wysocki, Katie Alvarenga and Kino Gutierrez.

This is the first year the Sustainability Champion award was offered. It is given to someone who has implemented a wide variety of sustainability efforts and been involved for several years in this work. Program Manager Jennifer Rea was recognized for this award because of the work she has done through Facilities. She serves as the Facilities representative on the A&F Sustainability Committee. And she  coordinated the redesign of the Smart Bins by working with UH Branding to develop a unique design in line with the University’s branding guidelines while managing to carry the important sustainability message about recycling and waste management. An upcoming project she is coordinating is the rebranding of the UH2O water refilling machines located across campus.

The entire Facilities Construction/Management department is proud of the award recipients and wishes them the very best in their endeavors.
