Advisor Schedules

There will be no walk-in advising on the following dates due to new student orientation:

We appreciate your patience as we welcome our new College of Education students for the Fall 2018 term!

Advisors for Teaching and Learning, Education Minor, Health, Human Development and Family Studies and Asian American Studies Minor will see students on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday by appointment only. Students should schedule an appointment via AccessUH. 

Advisors for Teaching and Learning, Education Minor, Health, Human Development and Family Studies and Asian American Studies Minor will see students on Wednesdays and Fridays on a walk-in basis. 

Friday advising for Teaching and Learning, Education Minor, Health, Human Development and Family Studies and Asian American Studies Minor will be from 9 a.m. – noon only and will be reserved for quick questions which take approximately 15 minutes or less.

Listed below are the advisors’ individual start/end times as well as when they are unavailable each day.  Remember, be prepared for your advising appointment!

Teaching and Learning/Education Minor

Anitra Wright(students with last name beginning with L-Z) Appointments: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday will begin at 9 a.m. and the last student will be seen at 2:30 p.m.  Walk-in Advising will be held from 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and 9 a.m. - noon on Fridays.  Ms. Wright will be unavailable from 1 p.m.-2 p.m.

Greta Ralston – (students with last name beginning with A-K) Appointments: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday will begin at 9 a.m. and the last student will be seen at 2:30 p.m.  Walk-in Advising will be held from 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and 9am - noon on Fridays.   Ms. Ralston will be unavailable from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.

UH Sugar Land

If you are a UH Sugar Land student, please contact one of the advisors above to schedule an appointment.

Health/Health Minor

Emily Miller(students with last name beginning with A-K) Appointments: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday will begin at 9 a.m. and the last student will be seen at 2:30 p.m.  Walk-in Advising will be held from 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and 9am - noon on Fridays. Ms. Miller will be unavailable from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.

Tracy Rider - (students with last name beginning with L-Z) Appointments: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday will begin at 9 a.m. and the last student will be seen at 2:30 p.m. Walk-in Advising will be held from 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and 9am - noon on Fridays. Ms. Rider will be unavailable from 12 p.m. - 1.p.m.

Need a closed health course or don’t meet the prerequisites? Submit a request.

Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS)/HDFS Minor/Asian American Studies Minor/Special Populations Minor

Kimberly Zainfeld - Appointments: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the last student will be seen at 3:00 p.m.  Walk-in Advising will be held from 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Wednesdays and 9 a.m. - noon on Fridays.  Ms. Zainfeld will be unavailable from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Student Success Coach

Laura Lee – All students on Academic Warning, Probation, or Suspension should email Laura at llee15@uh.edu for an appointment.  Include your name, student ID number, and phone number in the email.

Future High School Teachers

If you would like to pursue an undergraduate degree with certification at the high school level (Grades 8-12) or in Art or Music (Early Childhood-12th grade), you must major in the subject that you want to become certified to teach and may pursue a Minor in Education. You must also successfully complete the Teacher Education Program. Please see the departmental advisor for undergraduate requirements. All advisors are located within the academic department of your degree.
