Our undergraduate program offers our nearly 300 majors a foundation in sociological theory, research methods, and both qualitative and quantitative methods. Our unique internship program also provides students with invaluable experience and skills that will prepare them for the workforce upon graduation.

Faculty featured in "Great Day Houston"

Anjali Kanojia, assistant director, India Studies, and Sheila Singh (featured above), an M.A. Sociology graduate and current instructor of Sociology, appeared on Great Day Houston (KHOU Channel 11). In front of a live audience, they spoke about cultural and religious symbols such as the significance of the bindi and Hinduism, turbans and Sikhism, and head coverings (e.g., hijab, niqab, and burka) in Muslim culture. The show was dedicated to fostering inter-cultural and inter-faith dialogue.

Students interested in the sociology major are encouraged to meet with Mr. Landis Odoms, the undergraduate advisor. Sociology majors should also meet with Mr. Odoms on a regular basis to ensure timely progress on their degree requirements. Graduate students are encoured to meet with Dr. Grigorian, the graduate advisor.
