Student Nutrition Association

The University of Houston Student Nutrition Association is a pre-professional organization that encourages student involvement in the field of nutrition. This is accomplished in several ways, such as participation in the Houston Area Dietetic Association and volunteering for nutrition-related organizations. The organization serves as a conduit of information between professional organizations and our student members. Meetings are held which serve to inform members about career opportunities in the field of nutrition as well as to help guide them when applying for dietetic internship programs. In addition, each year the organization adopts a nutritionally based charitable organization. Members are encouraged to volunteer for that organization and participate in food drives and fund raising events to benefit the charity.

The UH Student Nutrition Association welcomes all students to join. It is not mandatory that you are a nutrition major or minor; an interest in the field of nutrition and a willingness to get involved in community and professional projects is all that is required. Meetings are held monthly during the Fall and Spring semesters. Meeting dates and times are posted one week in advance in the Cameron building and are announced in the school newspaper, the Cougar. For more information, contact Ms. Ann Svendsen-Sanchez, Faculty Advisor for the UH Student Nutrition Association.
