How to Apply

Email resume, letter of recommendation, student transcripts and cover letter to Malachi Crawford at

  • a resume detailing education and work experience
  • one letter of recommendation from a UH faculty member
  • a copy of his or her student transcripts (unofficial is okay)
  • a 2-3 page cover letter indicating why the student wishes to undertake an internship.

Intern Eligibility

Each intern must be a currently enrolled, full-time, undergraduate student at the University of Houston, pursuing a minor in African American Studies. Additionally, interns are expected to return to the university as a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior student for at least one semester following the completion of the internship. Full-time enrollment is defined as being registered for at least 12 semester hours during a fall or spring semester, eight semester hours during the 9 week-1st or 12 week-regular summer sessions, and four semester hours during the six week-1st and six week 2nd summer sessions. All student interns must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 and be in good academic standing at the university.

Spring 2018 (Regular Session): January 16, 2018 - April 30, 2018
