We look forward to you returning to UH!

If you have just been placed on Academic Suspension: please carefully review this entire page to prepare an informed path for your return.

If you have been away from UH for longer than 13 months, or you were placed on Academic Suspension: your academic record will be inactive, and you will need to reapply to UH as a former student.

  • Carefully review the readmission process, criteria, and deadlines to make sure you are ready to reapply.
  • See the Readmission Student Application Guide to understand the readmission path that applies to your circumstances.
  • Readmission into the Undergraduate Student Success majors Exploratory Studies and Integrated Studies is automatic for all former students.
  • If you have any questions about the readmission process, you can reach the UH Admissions office at admissions@uh.edu
  • Students may reapply to Exploratory Studies in order to work toward a later major change to some majors. The timeline to prepare to change majors will depend on your academic profile and major goals. Your options to change majors, either back to your previous major or to any other major with additional admissions requirements, will be limited based on the number of hours you have completed, the specific course grades you have earned, and your UH cumulative GPA. It may not be possible to change to certain majors.
  • Students may decide that degree completion through Integrated Studies is a more streamlined path forward to graduation.

If you were in Good Academic Standing when you left UH (cumulative GPA 2.0 or above):

  • Once you receive your admissions decision, you are free to enroll immediately, once your enrollment period for your admitted semester is open (check your myUH Self Service portal > Manage Classes > Course Planning > My Enrollment Periods).
  • Use the Academic Map for your major or intended major as a guide to select courses.
  • Confirm courses you have taken in your myUH Self Service portal.
  • To make an appointment with an advisor in your Navigate Student app, click the purple Appointments icon, select Undergraduate Student Success, and look for available appointment times. However, if enrollment has already started for your admitted semester, don’t wait for your advising appointment to enroll. When you meet with your advisor, you can confirm your enrollment choices or add/drop courses as needed up until the semester begins.

If you were NOT in Good Academic Standing when you left UH, meaning you were on Academic Warning, Probation, or Suspension (cumulative GPA below 2.0):

  • Once the Undergraduate Student Success office confirms that you have been officially readmitted, we will send an email invitation to schedule your Readmission advising appointment. This email will be sent to your official UH Cougarnet email account. You MUST check your official UH email account regularly as it is the official form of communication for UH. Missing this appointment invitation may delay your enrollment for your returning semester.
  • As part of the appointment scheduling process, you will be asked to complete the USS Readmission Self-Appraisal form to take a serious and honest look at your past performance, any challenges you may have encountered, and your path and timeline to a degree-granting major. We want you to return successfully and ready to succeed, so taking this personal appraisal seriously will help you to confirm whether returning to the university is the best plan for you at this time. Your advisor will expect that you have completed this self appraisal form before the appointment begins.
  • While you are waiting for this readmission advising appointment, here's how you can plan ahead:
  • All readmitted students will attend a virtual Readmissin Success session the week of August 11th, 2025. More details will be sent in the summer.

Your success is our primary goalBest of luck as we anticipate your return to UH!
