Demonstration Projects

CORD provides four years of funding to 3 grantees in California, Massachusetts and Texas to develop, implement and evaluate their own multi-setting, multi-level interventions to prevent and control childhood obesity among overweight/obese children aged 2-12 who are eligible for Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Medicaid. The three demonstration projects represent diverse populations and geographic areas. The grantees have partnered with  stakeholders in their local communities in a variety of settings  (i.e. childcare, school, community, and health care) to ensure nutrition and physical activity support for parents and children and to improve children’s health behaviors, parenting skills, satisfaction with care, and children’s quality of life.
