Buildings
The vision for sustainable building at the University of Houston is to maintain a campus environment that demonstrates sustainable practices in planning, design, construction, and operations by optimizing lifecycle costs, while enhancing environmental stewardship and human well-being.
University of Houston's Sustainability commitment plans that university buildings evaluate the impact of construction projects, incorporate green building and design methods, and consider the needs of future university generations. The goal is to minimize the campus's environmental footprint.
New Construction
All new buildings are designed to meet the minimum of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver standard as defined by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). A comprehensive list of LEED Certified building projects is available on the Facilities, Planning & Construction website.
