Beatrix collaborates on sustainability initiatives across campus, this includes facilitation of the Campus Sustainability Committee, campus planning initiatives, organising sustainability and volunteering events for students and staff.  She also assists with regular reporting to STARS (Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System). She moved from Germany where she working as a consultant within the Energy Transition. She received her Masters in Energy, Society and Sustainability from the University of Edinburgh, where her research focues on community-owned wind energy centers. 

She is passionate about creating a culture of sustainability and introducing is as a whole-system approach to the University of Houston.
