Earth Week at UH: April 21-25, 2025

University of Houston welcomes you to our 2025 Earth Week!

 

Celebrate Earth Week at University of Houston and seize the opportunity to connect with fellow students while learning about sustainability through engaging events and activities! Look through our photos from last year to get inspired for this year's Earth Week. 

Thursday, April 10

  • Volunteer Campus Clean-Up

    Volunteer Campus Clean-Up with MVP

    3pm-4pm

    Student Center Plaza

    Volunteer with the Office of Sustainability and MVP to clean up our Campus. Early Sign-ups get a free Earth Week Shirt! Make sure to wear closed-toed shoes, sun protection. Water and gloves will be provided. Sign-Up here!

Tuesday April 16

  • Plant-potting with UH Wellness

    Take some time off and join UH Wellness by planting your own plant to keep you company while you finish your exams!

Monday, April 21

    Join UH Dining to Students will engage with UH Dining chefs to prepare and partake of a vegetable laden meal.

    3pm-4pm

    Cougar Woods Dining Commons

    Accompanied by the UH composting rep, Zero Waste Houston, back-of-house processes will be brought to the foreground. Students can observe the composting process, learn about waste reduction through interactive games, engage in a community art mural, and partake in a green-themed menu, including garnishing their plates with fresh, local microgreens. DJ and swag included!

    Student Center Multipurpose

    Hear about sustainability initiatives on campus and what the university can offer you! Learn more about how you can get involved at UH while enjoying a free lunch. Space is limited and reservations are required.  RSVP here.

  • Earth Month - Movie Night

    Earth Month - Movie Night

    Student Center Auditorium

    Join the Office of Sustainability and the Student Center in watching the documentary “Plastic Earth,” a groundbreaking documentary that explores the urgent need to address the global plastic crisis, followed by a discussion on the importance of Sustainability and the work of the SC Sustainability Committee and discuss ways we can adopt more sustainable habits to protect our Earth

  • E-Waste Drive

    Student Center South Circle Drive

    Cords, computers, controllers, oh my! Bring your unwanted electronic items to be recycled through Bass Computer Recycling, brought to you by the Office of Sustainability and UH Student Centers. Find a list of acceptable items here. 

  • Earth Month Makers Market

    Earth Month Makers Market

    11am-3pm

    Butler Plaza

    The Maker's Market features a variety of local artisans, fresh produce, ready-to-eat foods, desserts, specialty drinks, clothing, jewelry, bath/beauty products, and more. Additionally, there will be vendor promotions, a DIY craft table, a visit from a local beekeeper, campus resource scavenger hunt, yard games, and petting zoo.

    Cougar Village Courtyard

    Celebrate Earth Month and make a difference by joining us for a tree planting event with the Office of Sustainability! It's a great opportunity to get outdoors, give back to the community, and help beautify our campus.

     

  • Plant Swap at the Student Center

    Student Center Plaza Stage

    Enjoy a break from finals with the Student Centers Sustainability Committee. Bring your favorite potted plants or seeds to trade with fellow plant enthusiasts.  Everyone leaves with a new plant!
