Fall 2024, Let’s Go!
August 18, 2024
Welcome, Students,
Your faculty, staff and I are so happy that you are here. We are invested in your success and are committed to helping you learn and graduate from a Tier One university in a timely manner.
Here are some pieces of information that you will find useful:
Scholarships: Thanks to our alumni and donors, a wide variety of scholarships are available to support your academic journey. For your convenience, we have created a single searchable scholarship webpage where you can use filters and find any and all scholarships available at the university.
Free Tutoring: If you need help, don’t forget to visit our tutoring services where you can walk in and get help. Our tutors are eager to assist you with English, math, chemistry, or any other subject that is proving to be difficult for you. Free tutoring is one of many resources available at the University.
Health and Well-being: Your physical and mental health are important to us. Do not hesitate to visit the Student Health Center for your health-related needs and the Campus Recreation Center for fitness. For mental health resources, you can visit the CoogsCARE website, which offers various resources to support your well-being. Please take a moment to peruse the site. It may be of great benefit to you or a fellow Coog.
Enjoy Experiences at a Comprehensive University: Now that you have joined Houston’s premier university, take full advantage of all that the University has to offer. How about a football tailgate? Or watching your #1 basketball team in action? Perhaps an evening at the Moores Opera House enjoying an opera or listening to the Concert Chorale is more your style? If you are passionate about issues, you will find many nationally renowned speakers on the calendar this year. These are unique opportunities available at the University of Houston.
Student Clubs: Our data shows that students who get engaged on campus are less likely to get overwhelmed and drop out. More than 450 student-run clubs and organizations are waiting for your participation. Learn about them during Weeks of Welcome.
A new semester is the perfect time to set new goals and start new adventures. Aim high, study hard and don’t forget to enjoy yourself too. It’s all about balance. Wishing you the best for this semester and academic year!
Go, Coogs!
