    Office Leaders Represent UH at NACAS C3X

    Leaders from the University of Houston’s Office of Administration joined peers from 278 institutions at the National Association of College Auxiliary Services (NACAS) C3X Annual Conference & Expo. The event featured dynamic breakout sessions, inspiring keynotes, networking opportunities, and an exhibit hall with more than 150 business partners.     Talk Engages Colleges on CCS Benefits

    Cougar Card Services’ Cassie Bruner, director, and Daisy Del Fierro, assistant director, were the guest speakers of the Associate Dean Dialogue “Cougar Card Engagement” presented by Tiffany J. Davis, associate dean, College of Education, in the Faculty Senate Room of MD Anderson Library.     Cougar Card Services Leaders Attend AUC25

    Cougar Card Services’ Cassie Bruner, Ph.D., director, and Daisy Del Fierro, assistant director, traveled to the Atrium User Conference 2025 in Orlando, Florida, Nov. 3-5. The event brought together campus card industry leaders and experts to provide attendees with information on how to elevate their programs and the new offerings that were available, training, networking opportunities, and partner showcases.

    CPD Portal Makes Tracking Mail, Packages Easy

    Copy, Print and Delivery Services has launched a new mail and package tracking portal to its website for residential students, faculty, and staff at the University of Houston.     CPD Produces Commencement Books for Grads

    Copy, Print and Delivery Services were in full production as the winter break approached. The team produced 6,900 commencement books for the graduating students of eight colleges that were participating in the Fall 2025 Commencement ceremonies at the University of Houston. Once completed, the books were grouped to be delivered to either the Fertitta Center or Cullen Performance Center for distribution.

    Fall Finals Mania Event Serves Up Student Success with New Format and Record Attendance

    Finals Mania introduced a new format this fall semester, and it was a resounding success. A total of 944 students participated in the celebration, making it one of the best-attended Finals Mania events in recent years.     Thank-Ful Celebration Makes Giving Special, Fun

    Cougar Woods Dining Commons was filled with happy diners and DJ music during UH Dining Services’ Thank-Ful celebration on Nov. 18. Turkey was the featured protein on the menus of the dining hall’s stations. Thank-Ful is part of the year-long Joy-Ful events Dining Services holds to help students connect and celebrate campus life and to foster a sense of community.     Teaching Kitchen ‘Chefs’ Whip Up Festive Salad

    Students and staff members enjoyed creating a festive whipped fruit salad during the November Teaching Kitchen class at the Student Center South. It consisted of canned fruit cocktails, pineapple chunks, mandarin oranges, dried Jello, whipped topping, mini marshmallows, coconut flakes, maraschino cherries, and walnut pieces.     Shasta, the University’s AI-powered chatbot, is now available for all Office of Administration departmental websites. Whether browsing Auxiliary Services, University Services, or Parking and Transportation pages, employees and visitors can access Shasta anytime for quick answers and support. Designed to assist students, faculty, staff, and the public, Shasta delivers instant help on a wide range of services.

    Departmental team members, serving as Chatbot Customer Service Managers in partnership with University Information Technology, ensure Shasta stays accurate and responsive through ongoing chat review and updates. Using generative AI, Shasta continuously learns from website content and user interactions, becoming more and more effective with every conversation.

    Cougar Card Check-In Devices: Changing the Student Engagement Game, Obtaining Data

    To assist with student success efforts, Cougar Card Office implemented the check-in device rental program to be a resource for departments and student organizations to track student engagement.     Dining Services Earns NACUFS Honorable Mention

    UH Dining Services won the Honorable Mention Loyal E. Horton Dining Award for Residential Special Event of the Year for their 2024 Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month celebration. This prestigious recognition, given by the National Association of College & University Food Services (NACUFS), celebrates UH Dining’ commitment to fostering memorable student experiences on campus. The Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month event featured a culturally inspired menu, lively performances, and partnerships with both on-campus and local community members.

    Recognizing Leadership: Crews Honored for Excellence at TPTA Conference

    Parking & Transportation Director Cindy Crews received the Parking Employee Award of Excellence at the 2024 Texas Parking and Transportation Association (TPTA) Annual Conference, held April in Galveston. Crews received the recognition for her outstanding leadership and customer-focused initiatives at UH. Under her guidance, the department has made major strides in operational efficiency and service quality while managing a $25 million parking permit program.

    Innovation in Action: Lot Spotters Takes the Spotlight at TPTA Conference

    The department’s Lot Spotters program, launched in March 2024, earned the Parking Program Award of Excellence at the 2024 Texas Parking and Transportation Association (TPTA) Annual Conference, held April in Galveston. Lot Spotters was recognized for its creative, cost-effective approach to customer service and issue resolution. Using QR code-enabled signage, Lot Spotters empowers users to quickly report parking-related issues — such as broken elevators, litter, or maintenance needs — via a short online form.
