By Richard Bonnin

Philip D. Castille has resigned as president of the University of Houston-Victoria (UHV), effective immediately. He will return to the classroom and his tenured position as a professor in the College of Arts and Sciences.

UH System Chancellor Renu Khator has appointed Wayne Beran, vice president for administration at UHV, as acting president. She plans to appoint an interim president and begin a search for a new president in the next two to three weeks.

Castille became the eighth president of UHV in 2011.
