UH System Cancelling Evening Classes Feb. 3

By Richard Bonnin

The University of Houston System has canceled today's evening classes -  those beginning at 2:30 p.m. or later. Check your campus website for specific times. All athletic and extracurricular activities scheduled for Thursday also are canceled. Officials made the decision after monitoring weather reports that indicate continuing freezing conditions and the prediction of snow and sleet this evening and early Friday.

University officials caution that faculty, staff and students should make a personal decision about their ability to travel safely to and from campus. Faculty and staff are urged to contact their supervisors to discuss their specific situations. Faculty will be asked to maintain a liberal absence policy because of the weather-related conditions.

Officials will continue to monitor the weather to decide about Friday classes. The UH campus will be informed of updates through the PIER emergency communication system.
