Joel Fulgham

MSM drumset instructor Joel Fulgham is a native Houstonian with 34 years of playing and private lesson teaching experience. Fulgham is a 1976 graduate of the Houston High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. As a high school student, Fulgham started working as a professional musician with all of the major society bands including Ed Gerlach, Bob Smith, E.C.Holland, Ricky Diaz, Bob Henschen, and others. Fulgham attended North Texas state University where he distinguished himself in a number of ways, including performing with the one o'clock and two o'clock lab bands, playing and recording with the Dallas Jazz Orchestra, the Cosmic Jazz Orchestra, the Pete Vollmers big band, Harvey Anderson's orchestras, and numerous other professional groups. Fulgham currently lives and works in the Houston area and has performed with Theater Under the Stars,The Houston Symphony (pops), the American Pops Orchestra, David Caceres, Matt Lemmler, Ronnie Renfrow big band, and many others. Fulgham has performed with Andy Williams, Bob Hope, the Smothers Brothers, the Unknown Comic, plus jazz artists Freddy Hubbard, Eddie Harris, Bill Watrous, Joe Henderson, George Coleman, Michael Brecker, Joe Lovano, Tim Hagans, Arnett Cobb, and David "Fathead" Newman. Fulgham currently plays with an average of ten different bands per month including his own band Monstrosity, Chris Cortez and Friends, First Praise (at First Presbyterian Church) and the 11:12 service band at the Westchase campus of First United Methodist Church.
